Our Tuesday and Saturday Nets are now available online using NetLogger\u00a0 to see who is logged in, and are known at this time as: Sinbad Tuesday VHF Net, and Sinbad OTW Morning Round Table, respectively. The Tuesday Net may also be accessed via Echolink by connecting to the “Sinbad”\u00a0 conference node.<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

All amateur examination applicants are<\/strong><\/span>
\nrequired to provide an FCC Registration Number (FRN) to the<\/strong><\/span>
\nVolunteer Examiners (VEs) before taking an amateur exam. <\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n
All prospective new FCC licensees, will be<\/strong><\/span>
\nrequired to obtain an FRN before the examination and provide that<\/strong><\/span>
\nnumber to the volunteer examiners on the Form 605 license<\/strong><\/span>
\napplication. An FCC instructional video provides step-by-step<\/strong><\/span>
\ninstructions on how to obtain an FRN through the FCC’s COmmission<\/strong><\/span>
\nREgistration System (CORES).<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

\nIn addition, all applications are now required to<\/strong><\/span>
\ncontain an email address for FCC correspondence. Applicants will<\/strong><\/span>
\nreceive an email direct from the FCC with a link to the official<\/strong><\/span>
\nelectronic copy of their license whenever a license is issued or<\/strong><\/span>
\nchanged.<\/span> ARRL VEC suggests that those without access to email to use<\/strong><\/span>
\nthe email address of a family member or friend. Licensees will be<\/strong><\/span>
\nable to log in to the ULS using their FRN and password to download<\/strong><\/span>
\nthe latest version of their license at any time. The FCC no longer <\/span><\/strong><\/span>provides paper license documents.<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n
New FCC $35.00 Application Fee Will Not Apply to Amateur Radio License Upgrades<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h6>\n

The FCC explained that the new fees will apply only to applications for a new license, renewal, rule waiver, or a new vanity call sign. As previously announced, the new fees take effect on April 19, 2022.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“We are pleased that the FCC will not charge licensees the FCC application fee for license upgrade applications,” said ARRL Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC) Manager Maria Somma, AB1FM. “While applicants for a new license will need to pay the $35 FCC application fee, there will be no FCC charge for future upgrades and administrative updates, such as a change of mailing or email address. Most current licensees, therefore, will not be charged the new FCC application fee until they renew their license or apply for a new vanity call sign.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

ARRL previously\u00a0<\/span><\/span>reported<\/a>\u00a0that the new $35 application fee for amateur radio licenses will become effective on April 19, 2022.
